Australian Malbec is one of the top red grapes of importance which has a common bond as one of the varieties used in Bordeaux reds.
The Malbec variety is valuable for its density of colour and tannic acid. Malbec is also renowned for its value in blends but not often found as a varietal. Soft, smooth, and toasty.

Bleasdale Second Innings Malbec 2008 Langhorne Region South Australia 750ml x 12
Bleasdale Second Innings Malbec is just one of the famous Bleasdale wines produced which have been at it for generations and are highly specialised with Malbec, a key component to the estate's flagship wine, the icon Frank Potts. Malbec is rarely seen as a pure varietal, but at Langhorne Creek it performs well enough to earn its stripes all on its own. Bleasdale Second Innings Malbec shows vibrant primary fruit flavours of plum, red berries and spice in its youth, it finishes soft and round to velvety smooth tannins. "Currants and cola, cherries, fig and a touch of bay, the idyllic red for early drinking, warm cosy oak and accomodating tannins!" Bright red in colour. Bleasdale Second Innings Malbec has a lovely bouquet of dark fruits swathed in chocolate, roasted meats with mint, briar and violet, followed by a fine essence of lifted cassis and red berries. It leads to a medium bodied palate exhibiting pure varietal flavours, a quenching acidity, savouryness and light gamey, meat character. Velvety smooth tannins and a soft finish. "Fragrant with perfumes of vanillan, winegum and spiced oak, a mouthful of plummy fruit flavours, silken in texture with a smooth and supple palate, a most amicable drink and the pick of the list to accompany smoked lamb!" -Winewrite.com.au, "Ripe and gamy flavors compete for attention in this light-textured, full flavored wine!"
