Now recognized as the father of Japanese whisky, Torii set out to create a distilled beverage that would appeal to the Japanese palate as well as whisky connoisseurs around the world. Today, Japan is the world’s third largest whisky market and Suntory Yamazaki is not only the most popular single malt whisky in Japan, it is also enjoyed around the globe and was ranked the world’s ninth best selling Single Malt Whisky in 2002.
