Mud House Merlot fruit comes from our Viticulturist vineyard in the heart of the valley. This very warm site is ideal for ripening the fruit to an excellent level.
The wine spends about eight months in oak before being blended and bottled.Mud House Merlot has a deep ruby colour.The aroma is bright aromas of plums, currants and tobacco leaf with underlying blackcurrant and leathery notes.
The palate is a medium bodied Merlot with savoury flavours of plums, redcurrants, mushroom and tobacco leaf, a full supple tannin structure supported by nutty, toasty oak.
The palate is elegant, and youthful with well balanced acidity that leads to a warm lingering finish.Serving is at room temperature with subtle red meats.Cellaring,drinking well now, this wine will continue's to develop and delight over the next 5-7 years and is the perfect accompaniment to red meats and wild game.
